Return of Sunday and Holy Day Obligation
During the coronavirus pandemic and various restrictions imposed, the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days was suspended.
The Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales have announced that, from the Feast of Pentecost, the obligation will be reinstated, with the continued understanding that if the freedom of any Catholic to attend Mass in person is impeded for a serious reason, this is not a breach of the Sunday Obligation.
The full communication can be found here: Bishops’ Conference Statement on Returning to Mass at Pentecost
Coronavirus:
The Government has removed the remaining domestic restrictions in England, but states that there are still steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of catching & spreading COVID-19:
- Get vaccinated * Let fresh air in if meeting indoors, or meet outside * Consider wearing a face covering in crowded, enclosed spaces * Get tested if you have COVID-19 symptoms, & stay at home if possible. You will not be legally required to self-isolate if you test positive
for COVID-19 but the advice is to stay at home if you can & avoid contact with other people.
